Amy Collignon Gunn

 

In 2006, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis awarded Amy Collignon Gunn the John C. Shepherd Professionalism Award. This annual award is given to a lawyer (36 years of age or younger) who has been licensed to practice for at least five years. This honor is awarded only to attorneys who most exemplify BAMSL Tenets of Professionalism.

In 2007, the Missouri Bar Association chose Amy to receive the Lon O. Hocker Trial Lawyer Award given to young lawyers who have demonstrated unusual proficiency in the art of trial advocacy.  Also in 2007, Amy was recognized as an “Up and Coming Lawyer” by Missouri Lawyers Weekly because of her legal and community achievements and was elected as a Fellow to the American Bar Foundation.  Amy has also been named to the 2008 class of “40 Under 40″ by the St. Louis Business Journal.  This honor is bestowed on 40 individuals by the Business Journal editors and former winners based on achievements in their careers and communities. 

Born in Owensboro, Kentucky, Amy attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1993. She attended Saint Louis University School of Law and graduated cum laude in 1996. While there, she was the Managing Editor of the Saint Louis University Law Journal from 1995-1996 and authored an article for the same publication. Amy also clerked for the Honorable Clifford J. Proud at the Southern District of Illinois federal court.

Amy concentrates her practice in Missouri and Illinois personal injury cases involving litigation including product and premise liability and medical malpractice cases. She has tried cases in Madison County and St. Clair County, Illinois, the City of Saint Louis and St. Louis County, Missouri.

Amy serves as an adjunct professor at Washington University School of Law teaching pre-trial litigation each fall. In addition, Amy is a frequent lecturer on topics ranging from ethics to trial practice to bad faith litigation. Amy had also played a vital role in developing and implementing Simon Passanante’s yearly trial practice seminar, the proceeds of which benefit Legal Services of Eastern Missouri.

Amy is licensed to practice in Illinois and Missouri and is admitted to the Southern District of Illinois and the Eastern District of Missouri federal courts. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater St. Louis  (Board Member-at-Large), the American Association of Justice and the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys where she sits on the Board of Governors.

Amy and her husband, Kevin Gunn, have two young boys, Connor and Nathan.
