ENVIRONMENTAL INJURIES and LANDFILL LITIGATION
At Simon Passanante, our attorneys represent people who have been hurt by environmental hazards. Our nationwide environmental and landfill litigation practice group is headed by Todd Hageman. We represent clients from around the country who were hurt by a variety of unsafe environmental exposures. For example, we currently represent the homeowners in one Florida neighborhood who live near Coyote Landfill in litigation against the landfill owners. The suit alleges that the landfill polluted the properties with arsenic, Benzene, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide and other chemicals. A survey revealed that people living less than a mile from the landfill had more health problems such as respiratory problems, nausea, dizziness and other gastrointestinal problems than those living a mile or two away. Similar problems exist for our clients around the Saufley Landfill in Pensacola, Florida.
We also represent homeowners in Panama City, Florida. The owners were never told their homes were built on top of a garbage dump that contains household, industrial, construction and biological waste. The waste can now been seen in backyards as it works its way up out of the ground. It also continues to decompose underneath the homes causing foundations to crack. Because the homes have lost most, if not all of their value, our firm has helped sue the developers of the subdivision and real estate agencies that sold the homes without disclosing the existence of the landfill.
Landfills and toxic waste dumps are among the various types of environmental and toxic exposures. Other examples of toxic and environmental injuries include childhood lead poisoning. We represent many kids who have had their lives altered at any early stage by the scourge of lead paint poisoning. We are dedicated to helping children who have been poisoned by lead paint.
